Receipts, statements and VAT
A receipt for every payment, by your card or a top-up, a credit note for every refund, and a statement every month, to print or save as a PDF.

Every payment gets a receipt, emailed to you and kept in your wallet: each time your saved card pays for what you used, and each top-up. Every refund gets a credit note. Every month has a statement of all the money in and out. Open any of them to print it or save it as a PDF, and download a month's statement as a spreadsheet for your accountant.
Where to find them
Receipts: open Wallet, then Receipts. Each one opens as a page; choose Print or save as PDF. Each payment in the wallet's History also links to its receipt.
Statements: in Wallet, choose the month under What each project used, then Download statement. The statement page has Print or save as PDF and Download as a spreadsheet.
What a receipt shows
| Part | What's on it |
|---|---|
| Number | Its own number, in one series without gaps, starting again each year |
| Issued | The day and time |
| From | Tanzahost's company name, address, country, tax numbers and email |
| Billed to | Your account's name, email and country |
| Line | "Use paid by card", with the month whose use it paid ("October 2026's use of duka's projects"), or "Wallet top-up" for prepaid credit |
| Amounts | The amount before tax, the tax and its rate, and the total paid |
| Paid with | The card, by its kind and last four digits |
A receipt keeps the details as they were on the day it was issued. Changing your account's name later doesn't change old receipts, and nobody can change or remove a receipt once it's made.
Your account's name is what receipts are made out to. Set it in Settings, under Account name: your business's name, if you want receipts in it.
VAT
Prices include tax where tax applies; it's never added on top.
Accounts in Tanzania: prices include VAT, at 18% today, and every receipt shows the split: the amount before VAT, the VAT, and the total. Of every 118 you pay, 18 is VAT. The receipt says "Prices include VAT at 18%."
Accounts in other countries: no tax is charged on payments today, and the receipt says "No tax is charged on this payment."
Which applies follows your account's country, in Settings.
Tax is counted when you pay: each time your card pays for what you used, and each top-up.
Example: Asha's accountant
Asha's duka is a registered business, so she sets her account's name to her company's name in Settings before her first payment. Each month, she opens Wallet, downloads the month's statement as a spreadsheet, and sends it to her accountant with that month's receipts saved as PDFs. Each receipt shows the VAT inside it, which her accountant needs.
Credit notes
When a payment is refunded, money goes back only to the card that paid it, and you get a credit note. It names the receipt it gives back, and gives back the VAT at that receipt's rate. Free credit is never refunded and never has a receipt, since you didn't pay for it.
The statement
A month's statement lists every card payment, top-up, refund and day of use in that month, each card payment on its own line, in your wallet's currency, with what was added, what was charged, and the change over the month. It names both parties, like a receipt. Each payment's receipt shows the tax inside it; the statement doesn't repeat it.
