Tanzahost and Railway compared
Tanzahost and Railway both charge for what apps really use. How they differ on plans, sleeping, databases, regions, cron, logs, and what Railway does better.

Tanzahost and Railway are alike where it matters most: neither sells fixed sizes, and both charge for the memory and processor an app really uses, with limits you set. The differences: Railway adds a monthly plan fee that includes some usage; Tanzahost has no plan fee, counts use by the minute, and bills it to your saved card when it reaches your line and at the end of each month. Both take a card and bill after use. Railway has several copies of a service and regions on three continents. Tanzahost has scheduled tasks every minute, managed MySQL and MariaDB, WordPress sites with a file manager, and a spending cap on every wallet.
Every fact about Railway below comes from Railway's own pages, listed at the end, as they were on 2026-10-26.
Side by side
| Tanzahost | Railway | |
|---|---|---|
| How you pay | For the memory and processor each app uses, counted by the minute: paid by your saved card when it reaches your line and at the end of each month. No plan fee. | A plan plus usage, by card, billed after use: the plan monthly, usage above what it includes at the end of the period, and sometimes part of it earlier. Hobby is $5 a month with $5 of usage included; Pro is $20 a month per workspace with $20 included. Memory is about $10 per GB a month, CPU about $20 per vCPU a month, measured by the minute. |
| Free tier | No free plan. Projects cost nothing; apps and databases pay only for what they use. Our pricing shows any free amount. | A Free Trial with a $5 credit once, for 30 days and with no card, then a Free plan with $1 of usage a month (up to 1 vCPU and 0.5 GB per service). |
| Sleeping | Optional for each app: it sleeps after 15 minutes without visits and wakes on the next one. Off by default. A sleeping app pays only for its storage. | Optional ("Serverless"): a service sleeps 5 to 10 minutes after its last outgoing traffic. The first request wakes it, and may be slow or answer 502. |
| Databases | MySQL 8.4, MariaDB 11.8, PostgreSQL 18 with pooling, Valkey 9.2, and shared MySQL for small sites, with import, export, users and a table browser on the dashboard. | One-click templates for PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB and Redis. |
| Custom domains and SSL | Your own domains, with SSL issued and renewed by itself. | Custom domains: none on Free, 1 on the Free Trial, 2 on Hobby, 20 on Pro. |
| Locations | One location per project, chosen when you make it. See our locations. | Four regions: California, Virginia, Amsterdam and Singapore. |
| Build from GitHub | Yes, once our GitHub app is set up (it isn't yet): every push deploys, and pull requests can get previews. A ZIP upload works today. | Yes: services linked to a GitHub repository deploy on every push to their branch. |
| Workers and cron | Up to 5 workers and 10 scheduled tasks per app. Tasks can run every minute, for up to an hour. | Any service can run all the time. Cron runs must be at least 5 minutes apart, in UTC; a run still going makes the next one skip. |
| Several copies of an app | Not yet: each app runs one web process. | Yes: replicas, in one region or several (6 on Hobby, 42 on Pro). |
| Logs | Kept 7 days. Up to 3 log drains per project. | Kept 3 days on Free, 7 on Hobby, 30 on Pro and up to 90 on Enterprise. |
| Support | Tickets from the dashboard, with your project's apps and recent errors attached, or the contact page. | Dedicated support and support targets on Enterprise. |
What Railway does better
Several copies of a service, in one region or spread over several, with traffic going to the closest.
Large services: up to 48 vCPU and 48 GB each on Hobby, and 1,000 vCPU and 1 TB on Pro.
Longer log history on Pro and Enterprise.
MongoDB among its database templates.
What Tanzahost does differently
No plan fee. You pay only for use, by your saved card: memory at $5.99 per GB a month ($0.0082 per GB-hour), processor time at $11.97 per processor a month ($0.0164 per processor-hour). A shop holding 200 MB and 3% of a processor all month costs about $1.56.
A spending cap on every new wallet, which you can change or remove. See the spending cap.
Scheduled tasks every minute, not every 5 minutes, with the last 20 runs and their output kept.
Databases we run for you: more memory without a restart, new passwords that reach your apps by themselves, extra users with read-only access, and imports of
.sqlfiles up to 2 GB.WordPress and classic PHP sites whose files live in place, with a file manager.
What Tanzahost doesn't do yet
Several copies of one app, or one app in several locations.
